  1. One major point of clarification:

We do live in a Capitalist society,
the engine of that society is the free market/corporate system.
It is a bit ridiculous to point out the fact that the American taxpayer/government is charged with keeping that engine running. It’s like blaming the mechanic for fixing the transmission while changing the spark plugs.

We are not a Socialist/Communist society where
the government is largely charged with redistributing wealth. That system has been tried time and again elsewhere with failure time and again.
Pointing to that form of redistributive ideology in a Capitalist system is futile.

  2. All I know is if my husband went away for a week – I would indulge in eating cereal or PBJ every night, going to all the “stoosh” cafes around park slope he makes fun of. I would also watch junk TV -haaaaaaaaaaaaa

  3. I’m sure this will be no surprise but i agree with jb and dh. Wall St. seems to have bounced back- the rest of us, not so much. Where are the consequences for all those big producers who helped the collapse? Workers who have been laid off by the millions are paying those consequences and now the unions are supposed to pay for them too? It wasn’t the unions that brought down the economy.

And yes- unions get too much, and they need to cut back- but the idea being promoted is that this is all the fault of the unions, and it wasn’t. It’s a red herring thrown out there to take eyes off the real problems.
