The bodega installation would be a good test for evaluating
*rob*/jessi economic theory vs. kens/MM economics.
Would a high end trend force the increase in perceived value and realize a special market for art/food or would practical economic concerns limit the success of such a venture with a public just looking for a twinkie at 2AM.
legion- part of it is how they split the hides these days and part of it is how they are manufactured. Also, items like baseball gloves were made with vegetable tanned leather and most leather today is chrome tanned. Vegetable tanned will react to water and that quality is part of production process- leather stamping for instance. A lot of leather that i see has a coating to finish it, so the natural textured is covered up. The hand is different. But people want new styles and finishes and the leather market has to keep up.
Marketing is definitely a huge plus for any consumer product. Apple products are by far not superior to a lot of other brands BUT they are masters at marketing and a marketing superpower. Before that, they were good at what they did but couldn’t nearly be as they are today because they weren’t a marketing powerhouse. Sometimes, that matters more than the products itself.
We are moving in that direction as well. We create some great products but we’re floored sometimes with the fact that we’re not selling as much as expected and the big cheeses in our organization are revamping it now thinking that the marketing folks are concentrating too much on product development and not enough on true marketing of the products. Don’t know what will come of it but we have some really brilliant people in management so hopefully then can figure it out sooner rather than later.
BHO, when we missed on Lebron, I was predicting Melo coming in off-season and 2nd guess being a trade but cheap price. Did not foresee it coming at this steep price. were you predicting it?
randi, $350 was our target. We sold it Feb 7.
What is your target and why?

“bxgrl, I try to bring the same level of sensitivity and nuance to the discussion no matter what the subject.”
And your audience much appreciates that, Lech 🙂
Hey M4L, time for you to go “whee!!!”
Interesting Kens. That is a fun fact. OK now say you replace every single painting and every sculpture in every museum with a copy. Who cares?
[I’m egging slopey on here. I know he’s got a good rebuttal.]
