“There is actually 3 rotating copies of Mona Lisa at the Lourve”
Isn’t the Lourve the one that looks exactly like the Louvre in every way and has perfect copies of every work? I prefer that one. The lines are much shorter.
LOL Lech. Spelling and grammar is not my strong suite. I’ll claim “close enough” immigrant immunity as M4L does.
Kens, maybe you can say better what I was taking so much time to try to say.
In some products, the pure “idea” of something…i.e. buying purity in a bottle (bottled water) or having a luxury gourmet experience by drinking high quality coffee (Starbucks), basically created an entirely new market for some pretty boring mundane stuff. These industries hit on something interesting — people into health afraid of pollution might want to drink special water and pay up for it (even though half of this shit is from cleaned up puddles in Brooklyn). And in the case of coffee, we started drinking less…believe it or not…and like lipstick for women (cheap and a nice thing to buy to cheer you up when you are broke), coffee became something else.
A way to enjoy your LIFE for a little money. Also came along with the place to hang out that wasn’t a Greek diner or a bar.

lech, just visit the Louvre on the internet. Everyone knows it’s as good as the real thing.
randi, first of all it’s not “tanking.” Do you know why it’s actually down today?
Some might say it’s a buy as it bounces off the 200 day moving average
Correct bxgrl. same story with many products these days.
“Hey honey, I’m sick of walking up and down the champs elysees. Let’s go check out the louvre.”
“Nah, let’s go to the lourve. It only costs a euro to get in. The louvre is ten euros.”
“But it’s all copies.”
“So what? They look exactly the same.”
“But I want to see the originals. I want to be able to say that I saw the actual mona lisa, not a copy.”
“Um, OK, tell you what, I’ll blindfold you and then take you to the louvre.”

Kens- that was a fascinating insider look at the toy industry. BTW, ever notice how yogurt cups have gotten smaller and smaller? Same story, I think.
