    What you’re describing is how they do xray diffraction analysis of crystalline structures. Same principle anyways. The diffractions from individual atoms are in phase at particular angles and so you get a diffraction pattern that tells you something about the underlying crystalline structure even thought the wavelength is longer than the atoms so you can’t “see” the atoms directly. I know I know, different application, but same principle I believe.

    I’m not convinced you and legion are talking about the same thing.
