I really admire you, jessi for going i to the Peace Corp. Only someone who is truly charitable would have done so. Shows you put your money where your mouth is.
I had a friend who joined the peace corps in 1995. She was an English major and got set to Poland to teach English.
Another friend joined in 2002. He had been an environmental studies major and got sent to Ecuador to work on a marsh restoration project and teach English.
Both were decent students but not outstanding – probably 3.0 range.
“jessi- what sort of training did they give you before you went to your destination?â€
Not much. I had zero technical skills. I got a project done but it had nothing to do with the technical aspects of training. As for language, they taught me the wrong one. Oops. But yeah, I had a great time, made people think Americans were nice and I worked with people to shore up existing wells instead of filling them in and getting deep boreholes, the thing we were sorta encouraged to do during our training.
I don’t know what the current requirement for the Peace Corp are. My niece is brilliant, went to college on a full scholarship and graduated a year early.
“were you a true friend to dibs you would have offered to take his place at dinner.”
When you’re right, you’re right, bxgrl. DIBS, please let me take your place for you, no one should have to run this gauntlet of torture. And there is no one I’d rather spare than you! ; )

Same for your niece, BSM.

Peace Corps now requires that applicants actually have a useful skill for the country where they work
