“In today’s world, supercomputers are mostly made by clustering servers. This is how I make my living these days: selling the fiber optic cables that are used to cluster these servers together.”
I agree with that statement, but I personally I think that the size and configuration of Watson is a bit to small be called a “supercomputer.”
On the other hand, the media has embraced the definition, IBM has used it in some places while avoiding it in others.
Personally, I think that what Watson has done is even more impressive when considering that it is not some world-class array of special equipment. In terms of processing power, it certainly would not make the top 100 systems list, and might not even make the top 1000.
“I am so certain of this, that I am willing to put $500 on the table, and we go to a math professor on this one. You are ignoring the randome walk possibility.”
This is so obviously true I’d like to join the bet. Of course I haven’t yet read all the posts betwixt and between/
Only white trash baked ziti is crunchy. Normal baked ziti should have a layer of mozzarella on top,,,that can be baked until it’s a bit burned…like the way I did it.
For crunky (sp) you need some bread topping or something…but it’s white trashy
I’m still waiting for someone to come along and prove that everything I’ve said today is totally fucked up and wrong and embarrass the hell out of me for being so cocky about it. I have a book at home that actually explains the birthday problem really well and I haven’t had a chance to look at it to make sure it agrees with what I’m saying. I pretty much just made up all this stuff I said out of thin air and I have a nagging worry that I missed some little thing, or some big thing, or whatever, and I’m totally wrong.

“Then this must be the first time those circumstances have ever occurred. Just busting your chops, lech. It’s fun every once in a while.”
No chop busting at all MM. That’s exactly what I was implying.

“cmu is correct at 3:57.”
lol,
…the outcome is all possibility.
who would have predicted an agreement between
lech and cmu?
Denton, never count out a fast talking smooth (& could be aggressive) lawyer.

when it comes to arguing math concepts btw a lawyer and an engineer, I’ll go with the latter.”
Your choice denton. With this particular lawyer you might want to reconsider.
“when it comes to arguing math concepts btw a lawyer and an engineer, I’ll go with the latter. ”
but the lawyer listens to math lectures on his ipod for fun.
