“This stock market is on steroids and is pushing new highs, get ready for a pullback. “
Isnt it possible that companies can be doing well despite an overall crappy economy? Corps do things to make money, duty to shareholder to do that, so it doesn’t mean that unemployed people get in the way of doing that. For example, a corp sending jobs abroad might hurt American workers, but it would make the corp more profitable and hence a growing stock market.
DIBS, etc. please correct me if Im not seeing this correctly…
Adam – I couldn’t agree more with your rant! – so true, am one of those people as well as others here on the OT that have been unemployed for more than 6 months and have taken either Temp jobs or jobs paying them 20% less than what they were making….
Pulling yesterday’s and today’s OTs together, here is Allan Sherman’s protest to AT&T when they abandoned exchanges like Butterfield 8 in favor of all numbered dialing:
Biff (notwithstanding your leadership status), I am glad you are happy with the phone and service! My daughter has an Android phone via virginmobile. You do have to pay the full price for the phone ($250 for hers, a Samsung Intercept with a touchscreen and slide-out keyboard) but if you aren’t in a hurry, they go on sale, most recently for $175 before Christmas on the virginmobleusa.com website. Unlimited internet, unlimited texting, 400 minutes of talk for $25/month; 1000 minutes of talk for $40/month. And the only additional fee is sales tax–none of those mysterious charges on the bill every month. Very serviceable GPS too! They sell them in Target and Radio Shack if you want to look and touch, but if anyone goes for this, I’d suggest you buy it from the website (free shipping) just in case you get a dud. My daughter’s internet is slow but it works. The company is owned by Sprint and they use the Sprint network.
Thought my goons took that little guy out onto the firing lines already.
Biff’s back in charge?
REQUEST of new OT govt:
Ban the phrase “ad hominem”
Arkday, Rob and Biff(OT wordsmiths): Please come up with another.
gracias

The virgin phone service sounds good.
If I ever decided to get a personal cell phone again, I would probably go that route.

Wasder – who’s tour are you chronicling?
“Meanwhile, does the OT have a government this morning? Situation was pretty fluid when I signed off yesterday.”
The coup d’etat was crushed last night by cobble, Arkady and me. Emperor Brown E. Whore has been sent packing.
