Biff, he’s your underling. buck stops with you

When I meet native New Yorkers my age, I’m curious about their take on that issue – new growth cities vs. here.

When I’m on vacation I enjoy all the “novelty” of a car, big-box stores with acres of parking, the shift in the diurnal rhythm favoring the morning, etc. I’m kind of surprised I miss NYC but I do. the biggest pull, the social networks. they seem totally absent. Someone who likes to read in a suburb, I can imagine them feeling seriously isolated.

This morning I was completing some paperwork for some very rich kids going to a private school. their home addresses were all single family homes in the West Village and Tribeca. As David Sedaris wrote, “I wouldn’t mind seeing the rich eaten, but only before I could briefly join their ranks.”

Tomoorrow’s forecast is worse than snow: it is rain and snow, turning to rain.

I’m talking about BIG snow, not rinky-dink couple of inches.

Park Slope has more diversity and cultural energy than any neighborhood I have lived in before.

Hell, they even let Rob stay there.
