Afghan Detainee Dies at Guantanamo Bay Base in Cuba, U.S. Says
Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) — An Afghani detainee at the U.S.
military base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba has died of natural causes, the U.S. military’s Southern Command said in an e-mailed statement.
Awal Gul, 48, was “an admitted Taliban recruiter†who died of “apparent natural causes,†today’s statement said. The Navy’s Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the incident, the statement said.
Gul arrived at Guantanamo Bay in October 2002, according to the statement.
I’m all for torture and that sort of thing but this is ridiculous.
