  1. I think that Green Bay is one of the teams in the superbowl, and that’s only because a friend on Facebook will not stop posting about it.
I have no idea who the other team is.

  2. If law abiding New Yorkers were armed, we’d have more dead law abiding New Yorkers. Not to mention their children and other family members, and passersby.

Besides, who gets to determine what “defending yourself” is? If I get shoved accidentally in the subway, am I then entitled to pull out my piece and blow the offender to kingdom come? He MIGHT have been trying to kill me. Or else he tripped. What if I righteously shoot him, and the bullet also hits a pregnant woman standing behind him? Ooops.

But then, she, or someone else, would be perfectly justified in pulling out their guns and blowing me away, too. Problem solved.

No good comes out of this, sorry.

  3. MM, there are criminals in rural areas too. By arming and defending themselves, the citizens take a large burden off of the police.

If law abiding New Yorkers were all armed we could spend significantly less on the NYPD.

  4. Jackal,

I don’t give a shit about the Super Bowl either. The only reasons I know who’s playing and when it is is because (1) I can’t miss the headlines in the sports section on the way to the hoops results, and (2) a good lesbian friend keeps me informed of pro football doings (I realize that might seem offensive but, in my case, it happens to be true). By the way, go back to Prince’s halftime show a few years back and see whether you think he wasn’t lewder than anything involving Janet Jackson. It involves a glyph-shaped guitar, a white sheet and a shadow. Naughty, naughty, Prince.
