  1. The “shovelers” seem to show up after the whole deal is over. There will be a few people straggling around my nabe after it is shoveled already. I NEVER see anybody out there when it needs to be done….i.e. the am before going to work.

I am in work for some reason. Everything is cancelled. Meetings. No one around. I will go home really early. No reason to stick around here.

  2. cgar. i wasnt trying to give myself a tan!! i was trying to give myself homemade sunshine therapy! it’s supposed to make you happy! not nearly burn off eyebrows and give you blind spots! live and learn tho, live and learn. yeah last night sucked, between the botched sunshine therapy and the jizz ramen. blech

  3. Pete, I am taking Spirit Airlines because no one else would and it was 219 dollars RT last minute from LGA. I couldn’t even use my AA frequent flyer miles — they are getting stingier and stingier with the flights — 100 dollar redemption fee and almost no direct flights. The rest of the flights cost 450 dollars. It doesn’t make sense to go JFK if I can help it — too far.

  4. Rob – what a good point! I notice that here too – my entire block is filled with old timers who get out and shovel and do a great job. Of course my husband also rocks b/c he gets out and helps the old timers shovel, especially the 90 year old woman who lives next to our building who tries to shovel her sidewalk herself. However, where are the teenagers looking to make $20?? It’s weird! they are so not entrepeneurial

  5. “Turns out the very old man down the street was up at 5:00 and did the whole block. I went out and he’s doing my stoop and I yelled at him.”

dave, my 90ish next door neighbor in CG used to do the same thing. While his deadbeat son sat in the house. I would do my best to get out and shovel his sidewalk and stoop before he could. He gave me fresh figs, peaches, tomatoes and fried zucchini blossoms from his garden all summer – I think I got the better end of the deal.
