I decided to watch the SOTU speech after all after my board meeting last night, which ended early so everyone could go home to see it. I was quite inspired – I’m so glad I voted for Obama. I loved how he ties the reform of the federal government to his campaign promises AND to Tea Partier desire to eliminate things. He totally co-opted their rhetoric, a winning Clintonian move.
Although it seems every year promises are made at the SOTU that never get fulfilled, so we’ll see about this tax reform.
I have a dinner meeting with someone flying in from Paris. I can’t tell you have happy it would make me if he got diverted back to Paris and I got diverted home.
“Cgar, I hate to disagree with you but have you had your Chagall authenticated?”
Yes, and appraised a couple of times over the years. I have the appraisals and Certificate of Authenticity in my safe deposit box. Also numbered by Chagall in Roman numerals. Bear in mind, my father bought the lithograph 40+ years ago, when Chagall was still alive, and there was not a lot of counterfeiting. Also, the art dealers from whom he bought it were family friends.

There should be some of law prohibiting 2 hour long conference calls with people in India being held in rooms with crappy speakerphones.
Most of the paintings I own are by my kids. I did have a poster of a nuclear bomb going off, but my wife made me get rid of that after law school.
