Yeah, I am a former MetroNorth (reverse) commuter. People tried to avoid the seats near the bathrooms. They could smell pretty nasty (of pee, not crap) by the evening.
I don’t think I ever once used the bathroom on the train.
“Using the train bathroom in this situation would probably not endear you to your fellow commuters, though.”
haha that’s totally true Etson, although I think people tend to sit in the same car with their neighbors and friends so I bet if you need to let go of something nasty you just walk to some other car to use the bathroom. Like the car for people from Sleepy Hollow or something
Observation on my dry run commute on the Metro North this morning: People are a lot like they are on the F train, except:
1. The 20 something bracket is completely missing.
2. The 30s to 50s bracket is slightly heavier.
3. No hipsters at all.
4. No homeless people who smell like pee.
5. Speaking of which, there is a bathroom on the train, so if you’re suffering from Szechuan you don’t have to share a McDonald’s bathroom with a homeless guy at West 4th St.
6. I can do morning emails, which means I don’t walk out of the subway fearing a bow wave of emails that accumulated while I was underground.
Ringo – It should be fine although it depends, to some extent, on the condition of the photos. If they’re cracked you can have work done on them but it can be expensive. Have you tried scanning them yourself?
Rob – it wasn’t rhetorical.
All of those things you mentioned require a lot of funding. I don’t think there’s enough to go around – right now those activities are available to those who seek it, but if everyone went in for public or 501c3 funded enrichment, I’m pretty sure the coverage wouldn’t be adequate. AND, when you look around and see no jobs, what’s the point.
What if you need to be on a conference call? Did you see people doing that?

7. Nice view of the river. I love water.
