Oh, come on, Legion. Not all MSNBC is bad (ok, that Ed guy is nuts/wacko and Keith Obermann is cracked in an entertaining sort of way, and Rachael Maddow is pretty leftie) but I like Morning Joe. They have great guests, don’t bash guests or encourage screaming. The guests cover all ranges of the spectrum. I am also partial to Chris Matthews, who is a living breathing example of the politics I grew up with and I like his style.
How did I know that you would post to defend the left view position on this.
Oh yeah, you NEVER believe anything on the Right. lol.
“Hardly a left-winger or liberal, legion. And despite Obama’s gun comment, one comment compared to an onslaught from the right is no comparison.”
You missed the point. The point is that he is NOT a “raving Right wing radical” as so many in the media and on the left assumed, like the NY Times.
“legion- when your viewpoint is so biased and one sided it is difficult to have a real political reconciliation. Especially when the stated purpose of one side is to get rid of the other, not compromise with it.”
My viewpoint is biased? yes, that’s right, I just printed that I don’t think Sarah Palin is ready to be President. I’m very biased indeed.
“What I do blame her for is vastly contributing to the general low lwvwl of political discourse. Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Beck, Palin- they all have contributed to trashing serious discourse”
and I’ll raise you a Michael Moore, a Joy Behar, a Bill Maher, and the entire staff of MSNBC, the NYTimes and NPR to boot. this is fun.
Just to clarify my main point again, since you like to take off in all sorts of directions. My main point is that the left and the left wing media in America is just as culpable in creating a divisive atmosphere as evidenced by the recent tragedy in which the culprit was being passed off as a “right wing lunatic” when the truth shows nothing of the sort. In fact, his views appear to be that of an anarchist/radical.
After discussion here about where to go to dinner tonight (A Vero, etc) we decided to go to Ii Trulli on E 27th St.
I went there once before and my memory is kind of fuzzy in a good way from the experience. But I remember it as cozy, delish Italian food and great wine.
I just came back from an hour long meeting where I was trying to get some biz from a sugar trading company. Instead of getting the biz, the guy gave me an explanation of why not. It was pretty entertaining as he described in detail sugar deals that went bad in India, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina and China. Part of it was to shoot the breeze with me to say no nicely but it came out loud and clear that between the super-left Peru, Bolivia and Argentina that government interference with exports was a problem but with India and China, they DO NOT RESPECT CONTRACTS and walk away from deals struck at deals that turn out to be high prices. You buy at x, then the market goes to x minus 100 and the new trading partners walk away.
The guy was complaining about this and comparing it to the old time Euro/American concept of doing business on a handshake. THAT is a big loss (reminds me somehow of the American exceptionalism discussion)
Exactly Legion – The second the shooting happened the lefties started trying to make political hay out of it. Right winger!!! (false) Tea Party!!!! (false) Sarah Palin can be connected to this somehow!!! (just plain silly)
That person from Alaska has gotten too much attention from you all.
