  1. jackal, that’s funny. I could’ve written your 11:04 post. I’m better in meetings, sitting around a conference table, than I am standing at a podium in a front of a group.

I was great taking and defending depositions, too (“Were you lying then, or are you lying now?”), but I HATED going to Court to argue motions – I would get tongue tied, and I’d always be amazed when I’d win. Fortunately, big firm litigation rarely required me to go to Court.

  2. Actually, CGar THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT PUT ME MORE AT EASE….focusing on one or two guys and undressing them mentally while I spoke.

Peter yuen was the primary target at US Trust and he knew it. he was a good sport about it!!!!!!

  3. One of the reasons I made the switch from engineering to sales and marketing is that I am a pretty good public speaker. Most techies don’t have that ability.

Speaking of which, I have been invited to give a presentation at an upcoming “Computer Communications Symposium” in early March. I will be speaking along with some pretty big guns from IBM, Google and Cray.

  4. I get very, very nervous when I have to speak to a group. Sometimes I hit it way over the fences. Other times my brain just freezes up and I hear my voice echoing against the walls and my throat goes dry and I see the eyeballs all staring at me and a little voice starts screaming “YOU’RE STUPID YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT YOU’RE USELESS STOP TALKING YOU’RE MAKING A FOOL OUT OF YOURSELF.”

    Never in between.
