  1. “These OT Republicans apparently believe in the survival of the fittest, and wouldn’t mind stepping over the bodies of the unfit who starved to death in the street.”

    Ok, I can see that the tin hats are out today. No point in even having a discussion.

    Wild away!! Have a good day.

  2. Benson, maybe you weren’t here the day that several OT republicans said explicitly that they didn’t believe in charity. I was going to cite you as an exception, but didn’t remember if you had contributed your opinion to that conversation. And you don’t know what my charitable endeavors are, any more than I know what yours are.

    I do think that those of us who no longer participate in organized religion have, in many instances, lost that way to participate in charitable endeavors.

  3. Old-fashioned Republicans with a capital R did believe in charity. These OT Republicans apparently believe in the survival of the fittest, and wouldn’t mind stepping over the bodies of the unfit who starved to death in the street.

    Since none of the Republicans seem to believe in charity, I guess Dickens is beyond them.”

    Rf;

    You’re incredible. Just how do you know how much charity work I participate in? Oh I get it, if I don’t sign up to your political beliefs, that means that I don’t believe in charity. Very sophisticated thinking, as is that Krugman piece.

    For your information, I go about my charity work quietly. I do what I believe is right, and I certainly don’t spend my time making comments on other people’s level of charity, especially if it’s to grind a political ax.

  5. According to Krugman, the Repubs think Dickens’ Christmas Carol is a dangerous leftist tract!

    My father LOVED a Christmas Carol (the original), and was Republican with a capital “R”. He’d find out when it was on TV, and it didn’t matter if it was 1AM, he’d stay up to watch it.
