Hey IJ, thanks (+pete) for commenting…
That’s how it was in the good old days. Half the white people left for LI and the other half lived in apt buildings. Nobody lived, or wanted to live, in no stinkin’ factory! The invasion of the moonfaces had not yet begun.
So wide swaths of industrial sections were deserted on the weekends, and not just LIC. SoHo, the financial district, Chelsea, lower Broadway, and so on.
If you get a chance check out a book recently re-published by PowerHouse, Danny Lyon’s ‘Destruction of Lower Manhattan’. You’ll see the same thing in Manhattan before the WTC.
I spent a couple of months campaigning in North Philadelphia, since the Dems pretty much had NY wrapped up for the 2008 election. North Philly is pretty bombed out – — but one thing that is really cool is that there are many, many murals painted by talented artists. In some cases they are perfect copies of famous paintings.
if you dont even have a baby bump yet im not sure why youre scrubbing for seats!!! such entitlement in this city lol
*rob*
ha you are right ROB – that’s why my elbows still work and I can shove idiots just as hard as pre-prego!
Also – am feeling ok now but when I have a huge belly and I am off balance, it’s not fun trying to wait for a seat while the crowd pushes in on you on the train – I wish people could understand more how prego women feel when they have a huge belly – you are completely off balance!
There is a car service for drunk pregnant women. It’s run by the NYPD.
