1910- I bet she is amazing. The older craftsmen and women in the hat trades were so skilled and so good at what they did. I hate that so much of that knowledge is being lost.
Mallowmars??? You mean Mallo Cups??? very hard to find but great. When i was young I saved the 500 points of cards they came with to get a free box of them!!!!
Maybe she just forgot, rob. I had an elderly aunt who used to send me and my sister a dollar every year on our birthday. One year she forgot to put the dollar in my card but a day or so later she sent it with a note saying she was so sorry. She had terrible Parkinson’s and the writing must have taken her forever. I still have the note.
Bxgirl, not actively she used to work out of a custom bridal and clothing shop in Gravesend. She did/does work with fur, leather, and bird feathers – the board used for stretching out the animal skins looks gruesome.
🙁 i just got my yearly xmas card from my grandmother and i was all excited and opened it and it’s like totally empty. every year i normally get 50 bux. is it wrong to be disappointed?
Worked at grand union for 5 years. Union member. Highest grossing store because of highest prices in the region. Firm execs leveraged themselves right out of business.
1910- that’s so cool! I did bridal headpiece design for quite a few years, and worked at the B’klyn Museum doing textile and costume conservation and restoration before they shut down that department. The first project they had me do was sew the head of a black parakeet back onto a Victorian bonnet. Creeped me out for days. Does your sister still do bridal work?
