  1. Mommyhood gone wrong………I can feel a giggling jag coming on early…..

    Different kinds of laughter:

    1) LOL — a short but loud laugh kind of sudden

    oh shit I don’t have the time for this….

    but there is a sort of quietish, kind of evil tittering, snickering sort of laugh I do sometimes when reading the OT, joining in the dementia.

  2. M4L;

    Yes, I have Friday off!

    Arkady;

    I can assure you that two years is not “pre-historic” wrt the development of a SuperComputer. As I have reported before, I and my company am dealing directly with Cray on the development of their next-gen Cascade system. We are in line to supply one of the critical components (Active Optical Cables, which connects all of the nodes). We supplied the first prototype two years ago, and the system has yet to go into production.

    I am not knowledgable enough to predict the course of processor development. My original comment on the matter (in my post yesterday) was that China’s use of the Nvidia GPU to claim top spot in the Supercomputer was a cheap trick. It allowed them to claim the top spot in the race, using a common metric, but the machine has no practicality.

    This article explains this point far better than I could possibly do:

    Is it wrong to want to find the Fearless Parent (Mother) that writes for the Brooklyn Paper and want to punch her in the face?

    oh no, you are NOT the only one, believe me. she is the epitome of mommyhood gone wrong.

    *rob*

  4. Denton, AWESOME!!!!!! I am on it.

    I was told to read Telex from Cuba by another person in the commodity business. This list looks great. I temporarily stopped with the Spanish study I was doing — just got too busy with work — but I’d eventually like to find a few books in Spanish too. When things calm down a little.

    Thanks!!!!!!
