I’ve been busy this week so I haven’t had time to log on to Bstoner
    How are you all?
I had my interview on Wednesday with the job I really want – we met for an hour – so I see that as a good sign and someone from their company checked my “LinkedIn Profile” so am hoping I will get a 2nd interview with next week.
    Here’s hoping

Yes – I am on 21st and 6th and the smoke and smell is pretty bad over here so I can’t imagine how you are even in your apt Snaps!!!!!

  2. LOL!

Looking for an affordable flat near Time Square

    ——————————————————————————–

    Hello

I’ve got offered a job in Midtown Manhattan and will be moving there from Sweden. I do have VISA and all of that.

Now I’m looking for a flat for rent. I do want about 80+ square meters, with two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms. I want it to be fresh looking with modern kitchen and stainless steel appliances + modern bathrooms.

I want to live in Midtown Manhattan, near Time Square area. I do like living there, or close to the area.

My budget is 600$ to 1.000$. I pay now about 600$ rent in Sweden for 2 bedroom flat in southern Sweden.

Thank you so much for helping me out
I am looking forward to move to New York City as early as next summer!
I am tired of the cold, dark winters in Sweden

  3. There was something I used to do which I really liked and I think it was helpful. I wrote letters during the Vietnam War to a soldier.

I couldn’t write to the whole world, but I wrote a lot to this one guy — he was the son of my aunt’s neighbor. This guy used to be knee deep in mud and sleeping outside and generally having a pretty shitty time and I think my letters helped him a little. I met him after he came home; it was a little sad because he was still so wound up and I barely understood him; everything he talked about was some kind of army acronymn. I wonder how he is now….

Also, during the first gulf war, I wrote to a young guy and he really liked my letters. I sent him cartoons and my writing was a little stream of consciousness and designed to make him laugh. It was the cousin of a coworker. He told my coworker that I was definately “out there” and he enjoyed the letters.

For the Gulf War II, I was in contact with a guy who is best friends with a colleague/friend of mine. I had met him a few times. I actually really liked this guy and was introducing him to people professionally before he actually packed up to go to Bagdad. He had a long tie to the military — Guard, then active duty a few times.

Any how, he was working on repowering the power grid in Bagdad after the war and we emailed all the time and he told me how he got to piss in Saddam’s golden toilets at his palace after they ran him off. I “lost” him on one of his multiple deployments when he was sort of classified and just found out from my friend that he is now full time Army colonel and some kind of Civil Resoration person, i.e. he has concrete skills in getting together ordinary every day life — transportation systems, power, some civilian systems??? He is an engineer.

Anyway, I ALWAYS felt that some people shouldered the burden of war and I got off easy and thought the least I could do was try to show support to them individually.

I want to do that again for somebody in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.
