M4L, the Q word should not be spoken on this blog!!!!!
Kens Lite, I hope you stick around the hood. Kensington does have good schools and pretty nice place to raise a family these days. Wasn’t the case so much 15 years ago when I was growing up here.
Kensington or Flatbush, but also looking at Bay Ridge, which has nice options at our family size and price point.
Great point about Medicare Part D! The establishment Rs only care about deficits when there is a Democratic president, although I think the Rand Paul/DeMint crowd would care either way.
Lower rates & fewer deductions would be for the good IMO.
I dislike the idea of govt using the tax system to ‘motivate’ behavior rather than just legislating (or, preferably, not).

etson – And funnily enough, interest rates were about a fifth then of what they are now – but it still had a huge impact when the rules changed.
the 2 good hoods for families and have moderate prices are bay ridge and forest hills in QUEENS

“im all for getting rid of the mortgage deduction but it worries me that it would cause rents to get a lot higher. am i right in thinking that?
*rob*”
I sure hope you are not right, Mr. Rob!
They also used to allow you to deduct sales taxes that you paid.
Wow, they used to allow that?! Guess there’s been some progress after all.
(dona – agree about Medicare Part D. There was some opposition to that but not nearly enough)
