Regarding Cuba and Cuban communism….. After Fidel Castro last month said that not only is it not appropriate for Cuba to be exporting its brand of socialism (i.e. to South America), but that it didn’t even work for them, his brother, the President of Cuba Raul, is quietly peeling off the layers of state which envelope every aspect of Cuban life.
In April of next year, the State, the sole employer, will “lay off 500,000” workers. Within 2-3 years, 800,000 more. This will allow for Cubans to hire Cubans for the first time in 50 years. Cubans will be able to take out loans, own and rent property. The state will gradually be eliminating “free food”, and Raul just freed 50 political prisioners.
Also, Raul never bashes the US Embargo for Cuba’s problems. Raul is 79 (Fidel 84, sick and semi-gaga) and next year they will have some kind of Congress which might appoint new leadership.
I’ve got to get to Havana really soon. Before Starbucks.
why the fuck does bloomberg care how much time people day dreaming now? he seriously needs to stay the hell out of peoples lives and dictacting behavior and now he’s telling us that we day dream half the time and a third of time during the sex? wtf? hate him!!!
Yup. That’s all me. Unless I’m super engaged in my work, which is about 1% of the time, I’m thinking about ALL the things I would rather be doing and that ends up making me really sad.
Spacing Out Half the Day Makes People Unhappy in Harvard Study
Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) — People spend almost half of their waking hours thinking about something other than what they’re doing, and their daydreaming usually doesn’t take them to a happy place, a study reports.
People’s minds wandered about 46.9 percent of the time, and no less than 30 percent of the time during every activity except sex, according to a study in the journal Science. Straying attention occurred most often at work.
Sylvia Fowler: Is that anyway to talk to me after all I’ve done for you?
Crystal Allen: Done what?
Sylvia Fowler: You didn’t know a soul when you married Steven. After all, it wasn’t easy to put you over.
Crystal Allen: And who says you put me over.
Sylvia Fowler: I’ve gotten you into some of our very best homes.
Crystal Allen: Yes, with some of their very best insults.

rob, it was reported by Science magazine through Bloomberg News. Bloomberg himself does not really care.
