Arkady, they were doing work in the street and they used my sidewalk for instructions! It was Con Ed doing something to repair something under the street. National Grid was there too, doing something at the same time. They dug up a strip in the road and were working for a couple of weeks and kindly left their “artwork” all over my bluestone. Jerks. We have the Landmarks hovering all over us to keep everything “correct” and these fools come and graffitti up the sidewalks with permanent dayglo paint.
Arkady, in my case, it was arrows for work to be done in the street. But if you are afraid that they are targeting something under the sidewalk, yeah, call them up. I do not put it past these guys to completely jack up your sidewalk. And if you are there, HOVER.
I spent 3 hours on the phone via 311 the other day & tracked down the permit number & the sub who’s supposedly doing the work but none of what I learned gibes w/ what I’m seeing. Yes, I’m fully prepared to go out in my nightie & slippers looking as old as I can (maybe w/ a cane) & protest the Stihl Cut-Quicks.
Arkady, I also have pink and yellow paint on my bluestone. I think it is wrong for those guys to deface everything. Why can’t they take it off when they are done? Another thing to add to my scroll of house things to do……
