Derek Jeter is an extraordinary all round baseball player, a great defensive player and a great hitter. Best of all, he is a world class sportsman, a class act and an extraordinary team captain — for which I don’t know if there are adequate statistics.
However he had a shit year and he is getting older. I would not say that he stood out as the best shortstop out there; he is having a tough time as the cold-hearted bastards in the Yankee ownership are pushing around the great legacy players. (I KNOW it is a business, thank you HAL….but it is all so COLD…and horrible). This is the unfair way, the emotional way coming out of LOVE for Derek Jeter that the award was determined.
