Yesterday, I worked very late trying to assess the markets – we made historic highs in gold, silver (which is outpacing gold in momentum and relative strength now), sugar touched 1981 high, coffee 1997 high, grains soaring.
G20 should be interesting – QE2 hugh mess for everyone other than the US, obviously.
Dave, don’t you think that it is ironic that the US is inflicting currency pain on China via the FED now after that clown show in Congress. Our attempt to reflate the economy has brought us to the brink of trade wars. I bet half of those guys don’t even realize what is happening. Bloomberg is right.
Biff, there is something really bad going on with cyber-entertainment. What you describe is really loser-ish. It makes me feel lonely too. Why can’t people talk to one another?
Last night a guy I work with asked me to fill in for him at a dinner at sort of an NGO / supranational type organization. It was a “private, off the record” discussion about a current topic. I figured what the hell, free dinner, probably get some schwag, meet a couple of people, pretty low key. WRONG. I stupidly forgot about the whole thing, and next thing I know I’m getting an email, “Mr. x, are you still coming?” Weird. So I dropped everything and went. They were waiting for me at the door, “oh hello Mr x, get in the elevator.” Upstairs they had just started and I was a complete disruption when I came in. There were about 30 people there, all of them super duper serious smart knowledgeable people, except for me. They stopped everything so I could sit down at my place around the table, and then kept introducing themselves. There was a former head of a central bank of a major country, a couple of CEOs of pretty big companies, a senator, a few professors who are experts in the field, a couple of journalists, and some photographers around the table. And me. Stupid, uninformed, completely out of place, 15 years younger than literally everyone else in the room, sitting there trying to stay as still as possible so no one would ask me to say anything for fear they might all find out what an uninformed little child I am. Sooooooooo uncomfortable. And no schwag. I learned a lot though. Interesting commentary on QE2 (not the subject of the discussion). Will share details at the Friday lunch.
Lechacal must have looked like Jimmy McMillan or Kristen Davis sitting there in the row for the governor debates!!!!
they all probably thought you were the real VIP as showed up last.
