Thinking back through the many times I have interviewed women for law jobs:
– Don’t show cleavage.
– Don’t wear pants.
– Wear dark colors.
– If I can remember anything you were wearing you’re doing it wrong.
– Small jewelry.
– Wear lipstick and makeup and stuff, but go light. Or just do that thing women apparently do where they’re wearing 3 inches of powder but it’s super expensive or they’re really good or whatever and men like me have no idea and think it’s all natural when it’s nothing of the sort.
– If this makes ANY sense at all, and I don’t know what the right words are – wear heels but not like high heels. Like wear something where you’re kind of a little elevated but it’s more like a chunky hell maybe? I dunno. Just not totally flat shoes. Something heel like but not heels. OK forget it.
I remember when I worked a couple of floors above an ad agency (same floor as DIBS at the time) & what the folks that worked there wore to work. Some real sights, both men and women. The older folks trying to look like they were still with it were the worst..
“See then if I wear a skirt I will have to do heels resulting in more va-va-voom action…….”
Gem, I have no doubt that *your* Va-Voom quotient goes up with skirt/heels! ; )
Just make them plain-ish shoes, not too high, 2 inches, and make the skirt not too tight or short, knee length/current style. Make sure tops aren’t too tight. A plain button down shirt or good fitting light weight sweater would work. Think Ann Taylor/Banana. Go peruse their work clothes and adapt to your “look” to a more or less “corporate look”. I go full-bore corporate even after I start until I get a feel for how much I can cheat it and wear slightly more casual clothes here and there.
For more creative places, you have more flexibility to look stylish/cool.

they cant be turned away, but landlords can still make sure that they make the 40x rent rule, have no history in tenant court, no criminal background check, etc. almost all section 8 prospective tenants (well pretty much all of them will fail the 40x rent rule otherwise they wouldnt need section 8 i guess). this only applies to buildings with 3 or more units btw.

Interviews?
Easy,
just combine:
-Standardized data
-Experience
-Appearance
-Social Skills
-Favorite Book or Film
This should give you more than enough information to determine this person’s abilities.
Subtract big points if person asks for specifics on benefits or time off. This is not a go-getter.
denton, dont get off the AMD train yet. that analyst call might offer up some rocket fuel
“Because pants on a woman look too mannish and aggressive for an interview.”
HA, Lech – are you trying to bait the women of the OT to come out swinging with their feminist retort?
