  1. Actually I have an interview attire question for all finance/lawyer/corporate type jobs that are non-media or non for profit or creative:

As a woman -do you expect that person to come in a suit? or does a pair of nice black dress pants and a sweater top or blouse with nice flats suffice? I do not wear heels to an interview as for me it’s too va-va-va vooooomm (spare me the male commentary that if I had been wearing heels I would get the job)

    Thanks!

  2. I’m the opposite of IJ. I’m a terrible interviewer. When I’m interviewing it’s like I’m talking to some animated flesh doll or something and I just can’t form any kind of opinion about it. It’s moving and saying stuff but I know it’s just rehearsed, and maybe it’s nervous or maybe it isn’t, but that has nothing to do with how well it’ll do the job anyways. I usually just give some kind of middle of the road “fine if everyone else is OK with him” type feedback. Unless he or she is from a really scrappy background, then I’ll give a good recommendation.

  3. You know what’s the worst type of interview (in my experience)? It’s when you are being interviewed by a guy who obviously hates his or her job, and they take out their frustration on you.

  4. Those are good thought, benson. One could make a similar arguent regarding health insurance. We have so many duplicative bureaucracies all doing the same thing — processing claims, evaluating risk, actuarial forecasting, setting rates, negotiating dr. contracts and payment schedules, determining eligibility. Wouldn’t it achieve a tremendous savings to get that all under one roof? Eliminate dozens of duplicative bureaucracies? Further bureaucratic savings if eligibility for coverage were no longer an issue. Those may be private bureaucracies but they are bureaucracies and we are all still paying for them.

I think the PETA people are psychos.

There is a new “law” that says when sex symbols reach a certain age they are required to work for animal rights, ie Brigitte Bardot, etc.
