  1. dona – When I was on the road a lot I got kid glove treatment because of both age & sex if I were working w/ a new crew. By the end of the show they’d be tossing Teac reel-to-reel tape decks at me to carry.

  2. Legion, actually I think that even in Switzerland, there is probably a sliding scale of man to woman courtesy.

But I think that Americans are much more practical and matter of fact in their treatment of woman, i.e. if you are struggling with that bag, I’ll help you and that is nice. More situational rather than obligatory help.

Something I think is a RIOT. In my house, I do all kinds of physical work. I carry heavy things, climb up ladders, crawl around on the roof, move stuff, clean everything.
Sometimes, I will just finish with some of this hard work and a tradesman will come over for some work and see me carrying some little thing and as a man/woman courtesy take it away from me, helping me. (I am thinking, you should have SEEN what I just did, buddy….)

  3. BIF, your list is sexism at it’s worst.

Surely there are women on the OT who are VERY provocative!

Are you giving them a free pass because it is ungentlemanly to call a woman a master – baiter?

You are the President, you must be fair!

  4. Dona, that was a wonderful summary. And I agree with you; none of the people I named bother me in the least. I named them because I think they’re very good, in their own ways, at prompting passionate responses. Is there anyone you would add to the list to be in the running for top instigator?

  5. But you forgot the worst of the lot- BrooklynCouch.

It’s not bait if it’s not worth taking, bx. When has BC triggered a brawl here? Same with randi — a few jerkish comments and counting everyone’s posts does not a master baiter make.

I vote for rob — he can get anyone riled up on any topic.
