  1. “babs – I’m buying 225 acres in western mass in a couple of weeks. I plan on logging it. Perhaps I’ll develop it. What do you think about that?”

I know nothing about Massachusetts, and less about the politics of tree destruction, etc. I hope that people who do will get involved. I didn’t know there actually was any commercial logging any more in the US that didn’t involve re-planting.

  2. “Lenora Fulani”

Had never heard of her before. Wiki tells me that Fulani is the name she and her husband took as their own – after the West African tribe. Kinda funny, to anyone in Ghana, the last thing you’d choose to be is a Fulani. They were cool though – they looked after the cows and got to keep the milk.

  3. I wouldn’t clearcut the whole thing JB. Not the right management tool for this property. Selective cutting, leaving seed trees, that’s the way to go for most of the property. Still a forest after each cutting. There is about 15 acres of hemlock that I suppose I might clearcut to try to encourage another species to develop there.

  4. “Babs – you’re not voting for a homophobic fascist but you are voting for a mega-racist lunatic?”

Totally – because I know Cuomo doesn’t need my vote to win and because Mr. Barron totally gets what’s going on in my neighborhood right now. Kind of like (apart from the favor part) when I voted for Lenora Fulani over Bill Clinton, before I found out that she was an anti-Semite.

  5. Babs – no reason not to start small. Rich people need to make tax deductions anyway – no reason not to give to a conservancy. It’s not hard to set one up. Go for it! Landmarks isn’t the only route – buy the house and put a restrictive covenant in the deed.
