“I agree, most people don’t really know what a fascist is and to call someone that in this day and age is ludicrous.”
Substitute “socialist” for fascist, and you got that right. Some people think sharing a dessert at dinner makes you a socialist. It’s the most mis-used word in politics.
Some of the best memories in my life are from that area. When I was a kid, one of my uncles had a tiny bungalow out there, when it was still considered “the country”. When we were driving out there, it felt like we were going to the end of the world – can you imagine?
Simple days just running around in the woods, going to the lake and playing wiffleball with my cousins. Ah, those were the days!
“jackal, try and step out of character and be nice. Babs is new to the OT and she doesn’t get your “charms” like the rest of us do.”
That’s sweet, CGar, and thanks, but I’ve actually been around here a long time – just don’t often have much to add, and most discussions here depress/irritate me too much, but the current rise of right-wing insanity is making me more voluble than usual. 🙂
“And I’m voting for Charles Barron, anyway, although I am going out to Ronkonkoma (accent on the penultimate syllable, please) tomorrow to canvas for Democratic candidates – my revenge for having gown up surrounded by racists and fascists out there.”
I think the funniest Town name on Long Island is “YAPHANK”

DH, I grew up in Commack (a/k/a Hell on Earth) but even we looked down on Ronkokoma.
DH;
You’re from Ronkonkoma??

“right-wing insanity”
You’re not getting any traction on the whole credibility thing here.

Ronkonkoma represent! Sachem grad?
Please note: I am not engaging in political discussion today. As I mentioned above, my role reversal consists of being quiet and pleasant.
Have a wonderful weekend all!
