  1. …speaking of gourmet bologna sandwiches,
I thought I heard of some service where a Brooklyn chef makes up a sandwich and delivers it on request for like 7 bucks.

Though I might have a problem with a bearded hipster showing up and pulling my lunch out of his skinny jeans.

  2. “State Unemployment Insurance/State Disability Insurance”

Not wrong CH. What you are paying is NYS disability only. That’s only a field descriptor that covers what can be deducted for any other state since ADP/Paychex and multi-state companies only have a certain number of fields. Once again, I refer you to the official NYS Unemployment Insurance FAQ website at:

    https://ui.labor.state.ny.us/UBOC/generalfaqs_en.jsp

It doesn’t get simpler than the sentence below.

“No deductions are ever made from a worker’s paycheck for it.”

  3. “NYS requires that insurance companies take all individual policy comers at the same rate, regardless of health condition. Also, insurance companies are mandated by state legislature to cover a huge spectrum of procedures, such as multiple in-vitro attempts.”

    Ugh that’s horrible.
Imagine if everyone had to pay the same for auto insurance regardless of the age / condition of the car or driving experience.

  4. When people stop eating and living in a way that makes them sicker and sicker as they age I’ll consider supporting government funding of health care. I’m not interested in paying for healthcare for some invalid who fucked up his body with 40 years of twinkies.

Until then, just get rid of the plaintiff’s bar and reduce costs dramatically in one easy step.

  5. That’s right Arkady. NHS waiting lists have often been a big problem and there are questions about the system’s sustainability. The NHS itself is very popular in the UK, though. Most people there would not want to change for a US style system.
