Re Operation 107, I have started on my mission. First, is this listed with a broker? No signs anywhere.
I drove past last night and I like the look of it from the outside. You probably checked, but here is the attached
deed and documents from the city, also Trulia and Property Shark. The owners are in Florida (Boca Raton area)
and the last few transactions have been closely held between family members. They refinanced and went from 750,000 mortgage to 1.1 million (looks that way!) so chances are they are up against it.
This is not the house I had been looking at and I think the brickwork around the entrance can be removed. It isn’t the Fred Flintstone faux stone I thought. The bricks look wierd but definately fixable.
What you would want to do is remove that, get the doorway rebuilt and get a nice door, no biggie. Also it is painted; you might want to get that taken off and see if you can get away without resurfacing the front. The front door and exterior gives you a sense of the interior, Probably functional but not too pretty. It actually looks well maintained – nice windows, good stoop.
It is a nice width – 20′, corner of St. James really nice with the side windows. And a curb cut to park your
car in the back yard if that is what you want. Of course the building 105 is hideous, but it looks well maintained.
You have no cornice, only bricks on top, you would need to look at that. It is a 4 family, definately empty.

Let me know what broker you saw this with, or was it just something you noticed on the street. The owners address is listed in several places on the documents.
Fjorder – you didn’t overreact at all – I have done stuff like (and I am a woman!) I’ve jumped out of my car and gotten into it with a stupid driver. Yes of course like you said these idiots could have hurt me, but I guess I feel it won’t happen in broad daylight around a bunch of people. You stood up for yourself! good for you – however, always be prepared to throw a punch if they attack or run like hell down the subway steps 🙂
jackal — I wouldn’t even make that exception. What do you think Bernie Goetz would have looked like behind the wheel? I’m with Denton — yell, give an open-palms WTF look, but don’t flip the bird and don’t touch the car. You just don’t know.
Oh, and you should totally racially stereotpye when you’re deciding whether to smack a car. If you’re a white dude like me, chances are MUCH better you’ll get away with hitting another white dude’s car than hitting a black or mexican dude’s car. White dude will probably be taken aback that someone called him out on being a prick. Black or mexican dude will fuck up a white dude who hits their car. Indian dudes will just yell at you but won’t fight. Same with Arab dudes.
