  1. donatella,

sorry to hear about your kitchen flooding.
where is all the water coming in through anyway?

    I was spared this time.
I must have paid my dues with that huge tree that
fell in the backyard with the tornado.

    anyone want some firewood?

  2. “When the Irish came here to the US, they had a political sophistication which fasttracked them into US society through urban politics. Perfect example, the Chicago Ward system, direct throwback to Irish underground societies.”

They also had corruption on lock, which I can appreciate. Even the best fiction writers can’t compete with the true stories of Irishman and their politcal dealings.

  3. Just went long an INTC Oct strangle. (19/20)
Intel earnings come out after the bell today. The idea is, any surprise at all, which doesn’t seem to be in the options price, will move the stock enough to make the position profitable.

  4. Huguenots. Didn’t they have some nasty dealings with the de Medici clan? Or was that the Spanish royalty? I’m not so sure. I get all the sorted tales of the time mixed up. Those people were a trampy and vicious bunch.

  5. Cobble, I wrote something for Gem, but the Irish are political sophisticates, well speaking from the perspective of the Irish diaspora. I would say that unlike the French who DID protest to the king, the Irish were busy plotting and building sophisticated underground political organizations (Military/terrorist history another story). When the Irish came here to the US, they had a political sophistication which fasttracked them into US society through urban politics. Perfect example, the Chicago Ward system, direct throwback to Irish underground societies.
