  1. “if she is your type then I need to update my wingman notes as this is not on my radar per specs I thought were your type”

m4l, no need for adjustments. I can’t really tell because all I can look at at work is a thumbnail photo in a minimized window!!

  2. Parksloper – well, I’m white and my husband is black so for the past 8 years I have spent the majority of my time with black folks and I agree with you I think if there were more open conversations where BOTH races or all races felt more comfortable just laying it on the line with each other – we would be better off!

I think if people used humor more in our daily interactions and try to understand where each other is coming from it might make things better. I know my experience will never be like my husband’s – I can never say “Oh, I know how hard it is to be black” b/c I don’t – but man I see it with what he has gone through and I can have natural empathy and anger for him. Like I wish white people were more open and less rigid dealing with black folks and vice versa – I think sometimes black folks think we are all stuffy.
My husband will come home sometimes and just be like -“you know I really can’t stand white women right now – blah blah blah.
well it certainly doesn’t offend me b/c I can see what he’s saying and probably agree – haaa
Am sure someone else will reply with more of an articulate response but sometimes I just think humor is the best way to deal with race relations

  3. One of the songs we sang at Boy Scout camp had the lines:

    “And sometimes in the springtime
    And sometimes in the fall
We hop right in between the sheets
    with nothing on at all!”

  4. Just saw the HOTD broker. Come on, people, even I have standards when it comes to Asian women. Not only is she a butterface (which even then is only based on the assumption she has a nice body), but I might even go so far as to categorize her as a slumpbuster. That’s a person one doesn’t really want to sleep with, but will do so simply in order to get out of a sexual drought.

  5. “What is so interesting to me is that we live side by side but in virtually parallel cultures — but Black folks by necessity have to know all about white society, while whites can live their lives without ever really understanding much about Black culture unless they make an effort.”

That you understand that shows you are indeed trying, and is to your credit. For black folks, “oreo” would be an insult to the person’s credibility as a genuine black person, as you suspected. However I haven’t heard that term used an an insult in many years.

Also, it’s OK for a white person to say, “He was a black guy.” At least it is in my book.

“I know how it’s done. I’ve seen it in videos. I have a few straight porn videos.”

That’s like saying I know how to water-ski because I’ve seen it done on TV.
