Besides, if it’s about paladino’s platform, I’m not going to read it. No point in spending 5 minutes researching a candidate’s platform when I can just go vote on whatever half-baked thoughts I have about someone’s personal character based on snippets in the press and email forward chains from my friends. What are we, responsible citizens in a working democracy? Fuckoff.

Denton – I went to see Hornby at Union Sq. a few months ago – place was jam packed & standing room only. Queue for signing books went around the entire room.
Saw Bryson at the 5th Av. B&N several years ago – decent crowd but reading wasn’t very good – he’d written a preface to a book of travel writing. His new book is o.k. but not up to his usual standard. Entertaining but not wickedly funny. (I got it from England back in June.)
