  1. Long before we learned about client 9, Spitzer blew boatloads and boatloads of political capital to reform Albany by making it personal with Bruno and Silver. We forget how poorly he was doing before things blew up. He thought the legislature would just cave to his popularity and bravado and he underestimated his enemy severely and they actually started to look sympathetic at the time. So no, Spitzer was not going to succeed in reforming Albany and no, someone who makes Spitzer’s bludgeon look like a scalpel is not going to succeed either. It is going to take some jiu jitsu from our chief exec, not a maniacal rampage, to engineer real change up there.
