  1. “COBBLE!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!”

Cobble, that is awesome! What’s the job? I assume you’re taking it?

“Park Sloper…how many men from Yunnan have you slept with??? Lets compare notes!!!!”

Oh, I know you’ve got me beat there, Dave. But I probably have more Japanese experience than you do.

  2. lol, arkady.

As a social scientist, dibs gives new meaning to the term participant observation. I’d want to see the study replicated and published in a peer reviewed journal before I rule out any bias in the study design.

  3. I don’t really know enough about Latin America to discuss the culture in any detail, but it would surprise me if what you say is true. And to say that women in the U.S. basically have no power left because of the women’s movement is an odd statement indeed. What little power we have is, in fact, due to the women’s movement. Without the women’s movement, I would have been a nurse or a teacher or a housewife instead of a lawyer. Not that this addresses the larger issue of power per se, but post-divorce I would have had a hard time supporting myself and my kids, obtaining credit and buying property, and living an autonomous life in general — no question about it — without the women’s movement. And we would not have had any female Supreme Court justices or Secretaries of State, etc., etc…. which is not to say we don’t have a long way to go!

In any case, I’m going to cut off this discussion for now because I’m declaring that for me at least, the weekend has begun! It’s too nice an evening to be stuck inside while the sun is still shining.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!
