Gem is right. And so is MM. Do we really think this state and country run themselves? All those smaller government folk don’t have a clue as to the complexities of government. They just want their little Ruby ridge estates and guns. It’s the 21st century – government is not going to get smaller and if you want to have the privilege of living in the united States, this is what it costs. And like MM, I say yes to getting rid of the abuses and overcharges. But let’s not forget, Republicans have sponged off the system same as Democrats. How many republicans voted no on raising their salaries?
Exactly. At the Fed level the only outrageous spending is on the military budget. Including that, about 80% (imsr) of the budget is pre-ordained and can’t be changed much.
And in regard to the union-bashing, for every instance of unionist featherbedding, pension-skimming and excess overtiming, think corporate malfeasance and obscene pay levels. It’s at least a wash.
MM and gemini,
I have no doubt you have kindness in your hearts,
but the situation is like this;
picture yourself on a rowboat with capacity for
10.
and there are 10 people in the water waiting to
get in.
you know that if you put 20 in the boat you all
sink.
by continuing to dole out funds to public employees
without regard to consequences, you risk sinking
the whole ship. In this case, trashing NY bond ratings,
decreasing home and property values as no one will want
to stay in this state, bankruptcy and worse.
The government can’t create jobs, it wasn’t meant to do
that, it was meant to protect the private sector and
allowing the engine to run smoothly.
Yes that means giving breaks to companies that produce jobs.
Legion, somehow I think that today’s OT dust-up is your fault. Again. As usual. And I think you know so much about climate change because that’s your fault, too. Damn instigator.
Um Rob….
I get $1400 a month in unemployment, my mortgage is $2200 a month – so um no room in my pockets for me to pay a cupcake tax!
“Love the alcove bed”
There’s another shocker.
