  2. condundrum, i need legal advice!!!! i was talking to a friend last night and she basically told me that my grandmother’s life insurance policy is bogus and that i will not be getting anything and most likely im going to be in debt from it. she told me to tell my grandmother to take my name off the policy. she recently changed the policy and put me down as the first beneficiary. the thing is that it’s a really lame policy that i think she got when she was already old and sick so there’s only really a few thousand dollars on it. my friend told me that is not going to cover anything and that im going to be in debt for arrangements? my grandmother already discussed with me that she is going to be cremated and that is only like 350 dollars (that is the quote she gave me) and that any church related services are going to be free if i choose to bother with that kind of thing.

my question is this.. do i ask her to take my name off the policy? if im on the policy am i going to be indebted to anything she might owe? i dont think she owes anything to anyone but you never know. im just trying to cover my own ass. i was morbidly excited about the thought of getting a few thousand dollars (please dont judge me if you dont know my situation) but now im worried that me being on the policy isnt a good thing and that im gonna get squat and wind up having to pay for crap that i can’t pay for.

the policy is AARP New York Life Insurance Company. is this legit? on the paperwork it says it is based in tampa tho. there is a number on the paperwork, should i call them and ask these questions or are they not really going to be able to help me. if anyone has had to deal with this i need to know, ASAP. no one ive asked seems to have much of an answer for me even tho they’ve dealt with death of relatives it seems like they really didnt have any kind of role in how it works.

sorry for this long post, just really confused about this whole thing and finding out that i might owe money really makes the whole situation a lot worse.

it’s stupid and lame that it costs money when people die. makes NO sense.

  3. “free of ad hominem attacks like “short bus full of nut jobs”

Funny, I thought Dave was talking about the PLUSAs chartering a bus when he said this. Except in my case it would be a bus full of short nut jobs.

  4. I’ll keep that in mind, Hal. Thanks for setting me straight.

You really think a lot of tea partiers don’t understand rational policy concepts???? This is exactly my point that you underestimate them. Q.E.D.
