  1. I never said even bad music wasn’t music. That’s a totally different argument than what constitutes the inability to sing. I said rap, for instance, was not singing. I never said it wasn’t music.

What is, or isn’t “good” music is highly subjective, and I’m sure you’ll get a different opinion from everyone here. That had very little to do with my disagreement with rob, who jumped all over me for simply making some educated remarks about the nature of musical ornamentation, something he obviously knows nothing about, not that that ever stopped him from making one of his many pronouncements.

  2. “To Science” by Edgar A. Poe:

Science! true daughter of Old Time thou art!
Who alterest all things with thy peering eyes.
Why preyest thou thus upon the poet’s heart,
Vulture, whose wings are dull realities?
How should he love thee? or how deem thee wise,
Who wouldst not leave him in his wandering
To seek for treasure in the jewelled skies,
Albeit he soared with an undaunted wing?
Hast thou not dragged Diana from her car?
And driven the Hamadryad from the wood
To seek a shelter in some happier star?
Hast thou not torn the Naiad from her flood,
The Elfin from the green grass, and from me
The summer dream beneath the tamarind tree?
