Hey, denton, any chance you could e-mail me the full text of the Barron’s op-ed? I’m not a subscriber, so can’t access it on the Barron’s website, but I’d really like to read it. Thanks! (park_sloper@yahoo.com)
Interestingly enough, the CEO of a company I used to work for called today with a possible job. I’ll have to interview and all that with the dept. head, but HOW NICE IS THAT?! I’m over the moon! Even if it doesn’t work out, I’m just so amazed and happy that they thought of me.
Interesting oped yesterday in Barrons’ about the Arizona immigration issue… I liked it cuz it wasn’t a leftist view, it was a Libertarian view. She says:
-Constitution nowhere gives guvment right to restrict movement of people btw countries.
-In fact until the great Chinese scare there were no laws to restrict immigration.
-Plenty of jobs during those times of free immigration.
Here’s the part I really liked. She stated that a lot of the anger against immigrants due to perceived shortages they cause in health care (overwhelming hospitals), education (public schools ditto). Yet she points out immigrants have not created shortages of computers or food.
Why? Free market entrepreneurs match supply and demand in the private sector. Guvment, being inefficient by nature, is unable to do the same with services it is supposed to deliver.
Solution? Open the borders, turn over health care and education to private sector. Voila, problem solved.

Pete, I’m glad you know the difference between “contrarian” and “contrary.”
