Hey, I’m back for a moment, to post an excerpt from a David Brooks Op-Ed that’s relevant to the discussion about unemployment:
“One of the perversities of this recession is that as the unemployment rate has risen, the job vacancy rate has risen, too. Manufacturing firms can’t find skilled machinists. Narayana Kocherlakota of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank calculates that if we had a normal match between the skills workers possess and the skills employers require, then the unemployment rate would be 6.5 percent, not 9.6 percent. There are several factors contributing to this mismatch (people are finding it hard to sell their homes and move to new opportunities), but one problem is that we have too many mortgage brokers and not enough mechanics.”
Oy Rob! pay attention PULEASE (that’s what DAnielle from RHONJ would say) – hahahha
remember LEch is a deal maker who gets deals done and makes a million dollars 🙂
Lech – haaaaaa I thought that too like this Mofo is going to come on here while some of us are unemployed and need a job and compain about his job that pays him a billion dollars 🙂
hahhaha – it’s cool
ur entitled to come on here to complain
Oh crap now I feel like an asshole. I just looked back at the discussion of the day. Not so cool for me to come in and complain about being busy. Ugh sorry people.
So yeah – stimulus funds should go to training the unemployed to be machinists. Or is that a bad idea?
and we have too many lawyers in this country, it’s absurd!
more lawyers = more laws = more lawsuits = lower quality of life.
