Didn’t even realize the Oscars were on. Oops. Instead I busied myself going to the Open House in Crown Heights. The one that is listed by Brooklyn Properties for $699,000. Did anyone else go? My bf said someone else on the sign-in sheet said they heard of it through Brownstoner but I didn’t look at the name.
So: Yes, it has all the original details. And pretty much everything about it needs to be fixed. The only place I’ve seen in worse condition is Admiral’s Row.
Examples: Electricity needs upgrading from fuse box. Walls, ceilings, floors, windows need repair or replacement. Deep diagonal cracks and slanting of walls, doors, floors, and stairs on upper floors could indicate serious structural or foundational issues. Ground-floor kitchen gas line is outside the walls. Urine smell in ground floor shed and in back of top two floors. Top floor kitchen is located in what is essentially a closet with a skylight and could present a fire hazard.
The building is landmarked. The owner lives next door.
I’d be amazed if anyone was brave enough to take this on.
One of the agents said there had been roof leaks in the past, which caused part of the damage. It has a new roof.
There’s an old saying in Cantonese, BRG: “Sec see, Au fun” It translates into “Eat shit, shit rice” and is used when someone has something backwards!!!!! MOD might be more correct. 🙂
Dirty Old Man…it’s subject to different interpretations. Please define and I will let you know. As far as liking guys younger than oneself, who wouldn’t??

A “DOM”? Sorry, but the Death Star blocks me from accessing the urban dictionary. What is a DOM?
