Speaking of racists and Staten Island, heard a good story last week. The bad thing is that it’s fairly recent, altho the person is now retired and pretty old, the good thing was that it was related by a fairly conservative white guy with a fairly strong sense of outrage.
A major office building in NYC was getting a huge electrical upgrade. Engineer (I’ll call him John) had some say in who was awarded the bid. John agreed to help a certain firm get the job, in exchange for the company sending an electrician to his house in SI and doing some work (yes, this still goes on, unfortunately).
Company (major electrical contractor), is awarded bid, sends electrician to John’s house as agreed. Electrician happens to be black.
John is at work, wife calls. Major problem. Black electrician needs to use bathroom. John, in front of witnesses, reiterates (loudly) his bathroom policy to wife: NO N*****S ALLOWED TO USE MY BATHROOM!
The guy had to do his thing in the back yard.

I was never the ponytail, tye-dye sort. Jeans and flannel shirts.
Longish hair parted in middle but those damned split ends. No cell phones with cameras back in my beach days – so none of those pics exist.

My take on this is…a) so what and b) how is this negative even if true (on the face, that is, maybe PGPO is a terrorist supporter, but legion does not say that)? The flotilla was a benign if misguided publicity event that the Israelis attacked with lethal force. In international waters.

I’d always be worried about coming across a colleague working late, or a cleaner, if I tried that.
