You people are looneytunes.
Please answer this question for me then:
WHY did the terrorists attack NEW YORK CITY if it wasn’t considered by them to be the beacon of everything that America stands for?
This isn’t about a ranking of what are the best and worst cities in America, but to the world (yes, there are other people on this planet besides Americans) New York City is viewed as the symbol of this country in many ways.
If you can’t understand that and don’t understand why they decided to attack the World Trade Center instead of an office building in Cleveland, then you really need to wake the fuck up.
Well rob- if NYC is a festering shi+hole it’s because people like you make it that way.
And snaps- don’t count out the Bronx. I know people here in Brooklyn ignore the other boroughs but there is so much great stuff happening up there. The Bronx’ time is coming and soon. (Don’t move there rob.)
one last thing rob- when you actually want to know something about 9-11 and the families and issues, educate yourself first before you shoot off your mouth.
This whole mosque debate (which I — thankfully? — missed on yesterday’s OT) is a typical right-wing, fear-mongering red herring. It’s not as if Al-Qaeda is building their headquarters in downtown Manhattan. I frankly can’t think of a better location for an inclusive Islamic cultural center to be built than right at Ground Zero.
Oh dear God, I’m not going to rise to the “challenge” and take rob on today, it’s such a waste of time. The statements stand for themselves.
Any one who can write, in caps no less, that the loss of over 3000 innocent people in a sudden, senseless act of violence is as trivial as a Park Slope parent’s reaction to a “church of Satan” cannot possibly be schooled in tact, sensitivity or common sense. I don’t have the time or the will to take that on today.
1) I’m not sure I can “sound” like anything on a message board, 11217.
2) Just because I take issue with people acting like this place is the center of the universe *I* “sound miserable”? I actually think it’s pretty insane that so called cultured NYers would take such an ignorant stance. It’s extremely self centered and considering I’ve lived in every region of this country, I’m pretty sure most people don’t look to *this* city as the “beacon of freedom” you do.
“White House spokesman Bill Burton made the remarks hours after a poll showed that nearly one in five people, or 18 percent, said they think Obama is Muslim.”
I read that this morning. People in this country are going somewhere very scary right now with this kind thinking/behavior.

…Church of Satan?
I hear the Alister Crowley Institute is opening up
on 7th Ave.
Right across from the Elementary School.
They plan on beginning some outreach programs to the community at large. Here’s a sampling.
-The Devil Made Me Do It: Cop out or Legitimate concern?
-Bealzebub and You: Defining Down in the Modern Age.
-Mommy & Me and The Devil: for ages 3 and under.
-How to cook with Jalapenos, Hellish recipes.
Rob,
Go somewhere else.
