  1. THEY ARE NOT IN MY APARTMENT AND THEY WONT COME INTO MY APARTMENT! they were in the laundry room, and i will NOT be accidently bringing any in either. and most likely the bed bugs are more likely to go into the older tenants apartments first who dont pay a lot in rent!

  2. Rob, I like to believe that majority of parents see school as a place of learning and want the absolute best for their children. I also like to believe that parents not working swing shifts and over night are busy eeking out a living in order to provide for their children.

I know these things are not always true, but it hurts to think that a child, someone with a clean slate, doesn’t have half a chance in the world.

  3. Rob, you may be shocked to learn that the cost of raising kids, especially in New York, far exceeds any welfare benefits one receives as a result of having them. Having kids is not a profitable undertaking (at least not monetarily…pays off in many other ways).

  4. Legion, reminds me of a book I have around here somewhere, a white guy doing research in the Chicago PJs… he befriends a young Black teenager and they go walking around.

On the same walk, a white cop approaches the white guy and says ‘are you ok’?

Later, an African American male approaches the kid and asks the same question.

  5. Legion, I hear you and I know exactly how you felt. That was a situation that was entirely out of order. I don’t know what I would have done either. You could tell that the kid was certainly being abused, though maybe not in a way that would be visible after the fact (but who knew what would happen when they got home). There is the short term (can you insert yourself into this situation to ease the tension in some way or to lessen the threat) and the long term (alerting authorities). I think you need to rely on your gut.

  6. 11217 – yeah, NYC has treated you well. That’s cool.

Can’t you at least acknowledge the fact that the city is MUCH less kind today to people who are broke/ just starting out than it was 10 years ago (hell, even 5 years ago when i was starting out)

‘hey, it’s NYC – it’s the best’ just isn’t good enough a reason, and young people ARE leaving bc it is hard for people starting out today to get the real ‘new york experience’ that makes it special.

5 of my best friends, who are educated and have good jobs, are packing up and moving to Europe this month. it’s not worth it to them, living here where rents skyrocket every year and salaries stay the same.

“I wouldn’t call it stalking if there was reason
    for legitimate concern ENY.”

I would. But I’m not a cop, which really is whom I believe you should have called if you were genuinely concerned, regardless of the inconvenience. But that’s just me.

…soooo, I guess I can’t count on you for the
next meeting of Vigilante’s Anonymous Group (VAG)
    at Union Hall next Wednesday?
