I see parents giving their kids all types of chips in the morning. Cheetos for breakfast? Do these clowns realize that 1/2 a cup of oatmeal is cheaper than that $.25 bag of chips?
i <3 the commute between soho and park slope because there really arent that many school kids on the train for some reason. when i used to have to take the #1 i wanted to kill myself every damn morning. it’s ming boggling how many fat ass kids eat like 40 bags of doritos and jugs of soda before school.
also mind boggling was how many expensive gadgets they always had on their person.
kids should be zoned for their schools WHERE THEY LIVE. you know like every other damn place in the country. they should just walk to school. stop turning schools into expensive condos for yuppies and just have the kids walk to those local schools.
and annoying white people who move to nyc: stop saying you crave diversity and then send your fruits to an all white private school. YOU ARE BEING A HYPOCRITE! put your damn money where your mouth is, your kid will be all the more better for it.
One thing that IS good about the 4/5, unless there is some insanely crazy delay, the trains come every 2/3 minutes like clockwork during rush hour and unless some jackass gets on the train sick or holds they door, the trains move quickly. I usually make it to Grand Central from Franklin in 30 minutes or less.
I’ve found the ride to be best if you take the train after 8am, which works great if you don’t have to be at work until 9 or so. During the school year, I try and get on the train by 7:15 to avoid the crowd. These trains usually arrive at Franklin bursting at the seams, crazy considering that it’s the first stop for the 4 once it leaves Utica.

I’m on the train at 7:00, it’s not that big of an issue.

dona, if you walking to 4/5, when school starts jump on Q instead at one hanson and transfer at 14th. Q is never that bad.

Only ever saw schoolkids on the subway if I had to be in late or leave early.
Further bounces in VECO, RBCN…like SNDK too.
