“what about Bagel Hole Bagels do you like more than an H&H?”

Crunchy exterior, moist and light interior. Everything a real NYC should be. H&H are too large and dense.

But real bagels ARE dense, all the way through, and very chewy–hard even. At least the authentic kind, the ones that Eastern European Jewish immigrants brought to this country at the turn of the century. These were the bagels of my youth back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and Jewish delicatessens were run by independent Jewish storekeepers.

Fairway has decent bagels, about the same quality as H&H I think. They are bigger than the old-school chewy ones but they also have mini-bagels which are plenty big for me!

Philadelphia cream cheese = another factory product from the Kraft ersatz food factory.

Skippy and Jif peanut butter taste so good because they sweetened, just like most factory food. With high-fructose corn syrup of course! Yummy!

  2. 11217 – see that’s my point I actually like a bigger/denser bagel than a little Lenders bagel

Etson – haha, SO true! poor Irish – potato heads, my grandfathers house smelled of BOILED chicken all the time – ugh

  3. Well bagels are (obviously) a very subjective thing. I personally find Bagel Hole the best of what I’ve had.

And Serious Eats is a pretty awesome blog and I oftentimes agree with them.

I’ve been going to Bagel Hole WAY before I ever saw that article. I just happen to agree with their assessment.
