No way, Donatella. Didn’t realize Mika was his daughter. I saw him speak a few years ago at (omg, im super jew today) the 92nd Street Y. Very cool to hear him.

DIBS, I once saw a cartoon of the “Unluckiest Man in New York” He had a Jewish bartender (“enough already with the drinking, you’re poisoning your liver”) and an Irish psychoanalyst (“so Paddy, I says to meself, Paddy . . . ” (not listening to patient)).
Biff, as a NY Jew, I agree with 11217 about Bagel Hole. Steroidal bagels are good for conveying extra lox, but not proper. Good NY bagels are (1) boiled first before baking; (2) use only NYC tap water; (3) on the small side; (4) tough, chewy exterior; (5) doughy interior — neither fluffy nor chewy. Bagel Hole bagels are right on all these points. Only similarity with lender’s is size. Lender’s are not boiled first — just bread with a hole. Terrace is pretty good for an oversized bagel. I do like H&H, which are a little too large and soft but not by much. But these are only differences within the rarified world of decent NY bagels. Get outside the metro area and I’d be happy to have a dozen delivered from any of these places.
Morning Joe is MSNBC’s politically oriented morning news show. They have a kind of funny vibe with Mika Brzezinski, (daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security Advisor) and Joe Scarborough, former Republican Congressman from the Florida panhandle. Joe is a horse’s ass, but entertaining and interesting and Mika is his sidekick and professional eye-roller — they are a funny team. They have good guests always and a very entertaining group of regulars. They pull in business news from CNBC. It’s good.
M4L – my parents weren’t with me. All little Jewish kids go off to sleep-away camp in the summer. About 60 of us took a bus up there from PA during one of the last weeks of camp.
Dave – not exactly. We didn’t have parents but we also didn’t have moves.
I always assumed English Canadians would know how to speak French but seems whenever I have asked they say that they do not.

A la “Dirty Dancing”, jessi????
“biff, the problem is you’re a Canadian.”
Yes, it’s a problem I’ve had my whole life! 🙂
Denton, you may be. Maybe folks in Quebec City don’t expect Americans to speak French but like Canadian anglophones to at least make the effort.
