  1. Jessi, on the fabric choice, why not consult with DAS? I had him do two different jobs (two ladies club chairs in one job and the other a desk chair). For the ladies club chairs, I chose a silk/linen blend which was probably a little too thin/fragile for what it was for. Das did his best and they look great and are ok since they are not being used a lot, but ideally I would have chosen a heavier fabric. Also on the desk chair (which was mahogony) I chose a beautiful fabric but he said I should have gotten something with a little bit of red in it to set off the mahoghony and he was right about that.

He really knows his stuff and is as nice as they come.

  2. Rob, you wrote a very thoughtful, compassionate, and heartfelt piece at the end of yesterday’s HOTD. It was something that came from the person I know you can be when you want to be, not the piss and vinegar bitter persona you’ve been enjoying lately. Bring that Rob around more often.

  3. dona, the C is the worst. While kids are out of school why not take bus to Flatbush and jump on 4 there? Bus is always cool. Not my preferred mode as I usually deschlepp to flatbush but it has been hot and the buses plentiful.

no because this city ONLY caters to four kinds of people.

    1.) the insanely wealthy
2.) the ridiculous underclass of the ghetto poor who have no desire to get out of that cycle
3.) out of state moonfaces who have no day jobs, or real jobs at all, but somehow can afford insanely high rents and have the time and energy to play all day.
4.) foreign born person from all over the world who work for peanuts and don’t rock the boat.

    *rob*

  5. Today was really one of the worst commuting days I ever experienced. I waited for almost 25 minutes on Clinton/Washington for the C and it was 100 degrees down there. I really wondered if I would faint. Then when changing at Fulton to the 4, someone did one of those last minute charges (with violence and attitude) out of the train (as we started to go in) and somehow caught my hand with her violent barging out of the train, bending it back hard at the wrist. I was actually on the verge of tears – probably wouldn’t have affected me this much if not for the heat — but also the long long wait made it worse. O was thinking — why can’t we have a functioning C train? Why such a long wait at rush hour? We seem to have the money for Summer Fun, Summer streets and bikes. Shouldn’t a functioning subway system be our priority??
